Recycled gold grain
Ethical production and values.
I have always used recycled materials, ever since leaving University over 30 years ago. I was employed as a workshop trainee melting down old scrap and forging it into wire and making bangles and chains with it, so I have continued this all through my work practice. Thankfully bullion dealers now offer recycled metals as an option to buy as well as fair trade in very limited quantities so I can order this now along side using my own. My gems are sourced from reputable dealers who guarantee they are ethically obtained, I also buy rough gems and have them cut in house . I go out gold panning both here in Scotland and also overseas, and whilst I am out panning I also find interesting rocks and minerals which I have started using in my work, shaped and polished up in the workshop. My packaging is all recycled and I post out in recycled envelopes.

Whitby Jet, fosillised monkey puzzle tree, collected on the beach at Whitby.
Made into one off designs.

Panned gold added to an ingot to make a wedding ring.

Raw Montana sapphires, from a small scale mine un Montana US, waiting to be polished in house.
My work ethics are based on making sure I get a balance in life and work. I like to make sure that the time I take out every week nourishes my soul and helps me stay fresh and creative in the workshop. Adventures out are normally mountain based and are opportunities to replenish stocks of minerals and precious metals, If you don't get an immediate answer after contacting me, don't worry, I may be away for a day or two, but I promise I will attend to it as soon as I am back.
